Dear Resident
✨ Fireworks are exciting, but a criminal record isn't.
We strongly recommend attending a professional display and avoid having your own displays at home, to keep you and others safe. Setting off fireworks in public places, including parks and streets is illegal. It could land you with a criminal record or an unlimited fine. A criminal record could seriously derail your future int ernational travel and visas, career prospects and job applications.
Fireworks can be used in the UK any time from 7am to 11pm. Exceptions are Bonfire night: 7am to midnight New Year's Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year: 7am to 1am.
You'll see more officers out on patrol around antisocial behaviour hot spot areas. If you see anyone misusing fireworks or aiming them at buildings, people, or vehicles, report it to us on 999.
If you know someone selling fireworks to anyone under the age of 18, report them to Sandwell Council trading standards department by searching here: https://www.gov.uk/find-local-trading-standards-office
